Walkinstown Division, established in 1977, provides training and event cover across many areas of South West Dublin, including Tallaght, Knocklyon, Templeogue, Terenure, Kimmage, Crumlin and Drimnagh.
Our members are drawn from these areas and more, coming from a wide range of professions, interests, and experiences. Some of our members are professionals in the Healthcare sector, providing invaluable knowledge and experience in pre- and post-hospital care. Many of these members started in St John Ambulance before working in their profession. They would be happy to share their advice and experience of both working in this field and how volunteering with us contributed along the way.
Several of our members are trained Instructors, offering further depth and experience to our weekly training sessions so that our members can feel prepared and confident should they need to intervene at home, work or when volunteering for St John Ambulance. Our trainers help and support our members in progressing and achieving their goals. We are frequently involved in delivering training courses for the public and other Clients, so if this is an area of interest to you, there is a path to learning about being an instructor.
Walkinstown, as part of the Dublin West Region, has access to a number of ambulance vehicles which accompany us at many events across Dublin City. We frequently assist with the provision of Event Cover of all types at venues such as Croke Park, Aviva Stadium, the RDS, Shamrock Rovers Women’s Team, Phoenix Park, Tallaght Athletics and many others large and small. Events such as these offer opportunities for hands-on patient care experience, putting into practice the training our members receive every week.
