Drogheda Garda Open Day

Our volunteers took part in the Drogheda Garda open day. An RTC demonstration was conducted for all the visitors. Members of St John, National Ambulance Service, Drogheda Gardai and Louth Fire and Rescue all assisted with same.

Maiden Duty for SJ63 – Interagency Cooperation

While many members were celebrating the wide variety of State-Funded & Voluntary ‘blue light’ services at FESSEF 2016 yesterday, the newest vehicle in the St John Ambulance Ireland fleet – SJ63 – was covering her first duty in Cork.

A 5 kilometre ocean race almost had a tragic outcome when a male swimmer was struck by hypothermia. He became unresponsive and was rescued from the water by Kinsale RNLI. After a succinct handover, the patient was stabilised on site by EMTs Sean & Barry.… Continue reading

Life of a Volunteer

Last night saw the beginning of another season for Leinster Rugby. That meant, of course, that St John Ambulance were on site from well before kick-off til after the crowds dispersed. After the long evening duty, members of North Kildare Division were returning their ambulance to its base in Celbridge when they were flagged down by a motorist.

A Smile for Ryan, Gardai v Cable/Boyne Youth Group

 

Today we provided cover at a Local Charity Event in aid of A Smile for Ryan along with Drogheda Red Cross. The event was organised by Anita O’ Shea and her colleagues, Drogheda Gardai tuck on the Cable/Boyne Group in a soccer match in United park. The match ended 2-2 and after penalties, the Gardai were announced the winners.

Also present today was Alice Turner (a Chance for Alice) and Garda Ceejay MC Ardle ( the youngest Member of the force).

Team Building / Fun Run

On Sunday 24th July, Members of Drogheda and Raheny Division traveled to Malahide to take part in a Fun 5k Run. The Members had a great day and truly enjoyed themselves.
