At the request of the Board of St John Ambulance, Dr Geoffrey Shannon will be conducting an independent review of past complaints of abuse in St John Ambulance.

St John Ambulance Ireland (SJAI) is aware of a number of complaints of sexual abuse of members under the age of 18 years relating to one former volunteer member who ceased volunteering with SJAI circa 2000/1.  The Board of St John Ambulance Ireland has commissioned an independent review to undertake a review of the adequacy and effectiveness of:

Michael O’Reilly recognised for his work as Medical Coordinator for Public Events in the Cork area

Today saw D/O Michael O’Reilly from Cork received by Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr. Chris O’Leary in recognition of the work done by Michael as Medical Co-ordinator for public events in the Cork area. Michael who has worked with SJAI for 40 years works alongside the local authority, Gardai, our sister organisations and event organisers to ensure the best level of medical cover for all public events in the Cork City Council area. Mr Allan Smith, New CEO for St John Canada

In March 2015, St John Ambulance Canada announced the appointment of Allan Smith as CEO. Mr Smith having previously served as President/CEO and Board Director of Saxon Financial; and as a senior executive MD Management, a subsidiary of the Canadian Medical Association brings an extensive amount of experience with over 30 years of relevant leadership and management to his new role, this was echoed by Robert White, St John Ambulance Chancellor who welcomed Allan’s “experience and leadership to the St. John Ambulance family,”
