Meet the Board

St John Ambulance Ireland is guided by a Board of Directors with wide-ranging expertise across education, law, finance, healthcare, and the voluntary sector. Together, they provide strong governance and ensure that safeguarding remains central to the organisation’s work.

Chairperson

Hilary McBain
Education consultant and former school principal, with extensive leadership experience and a strong background in safeguarding practice and training. Former board member of national education bodies, including the Irish Primary Principals Network.

Directors

Eoin Lawlor SC
Senior Counsel with over twenty years’ experience in children’s rights, human rights, and criminal law.

Adrian Murphy (FCA MBA BBS)
Chartered Accountant and senior corporate leader with extensive experience in global internal controls and financial management across multiple sectors. Former Chair of the Citizens Information Phone Service.

Amado Hidalgo
Technology sector professional with over twenty-five years’ experience in Ireland, alongside voluntary work in human rights and child safeguarding.

Lynda McGivney Nolan (FAOI MSc MBABO)
Specialist optometrist with over thirty years’ experience working with children and vulnerable adults, including leadership in child protection protocols and clinical governance.
