Today, Saturday, 10 November saw St John Cadets form across Ireland gather in our National Headquarters to test their skills, build new experiences and meet new friends at one of our core First Aid Competition’s, created in memory of our late Cadet Superintendent Maura Dockery.
These Cadets worked in teams competing in a simulated First Aid competition where patients ranged from rib injuries to chest pain. The Cadets treated and cared for the patients throughout the 12 minutes assessment period. A big congratulations to Raheny Division for their 1st place finish and all the Cadets that took part.
Speaking at the Competitions this weekend National Director for Cadet and Youth Development Robert McGrath commented on the importance of these Competitions in the development and growth of these young people saying “these competitions continue to offer great opportunities to bring our Cadets together, learn new skills and make new friends from across the St John Cadet family”. Robert went on to outline the key purpose of St John Ambulance Youth, “to empower our young people across communities to be the best they can be across all spectrums of society. Competitions is key to this by enhance their skills to what is the closest opportunity our Cadets will have to real life emergencies.”
As we move into the Holiday season, today’s Competition brings the season to an end. Our 2019 competition season will pick back up again in the Spring of next year.
