Occupational First Aid (Fetac Level 5) Refresher Course - Nationwide

Any holder of Fetac Level 5 OFA Cert must attend a refresher within 90 days of the expiry of their current certificate to maintain its validity.  Fetac level 5 certs are only valid for 2 years. This re-certification could benefit you either in your employment or seeking employment.

St John Ambulance runs a one day refresher course where students can up skill and practice in a relaxed and comfortable environment, you will work with our trained and experienced instructors who will guide you and offer you peer support whilst helping you to refresh the skills you learnt previously. They will answer any questions and offer the benefit of their experience whilst going through an agreed schedule during the course of the day.  Our courses teach the most up-to-date protocols, as approved by National and European bodies.

To attend you must have a valid Fetac cert.  You do not have to have previously attended an St John OFA course - we welcome any person who has OFA Fetac certification.

How long does the course last?

Our 1 day course runs between 9am and 5pm including breaks.  It is usually held in our offices in Upper Leeson Street, Dublin 4, although we can arrange off site courses where companies have a several employees to up skill.  Further details can be given on request to our training secretary at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. This course is designed to refresh the candidate on skills learned on the full Occupational First Aid Course while also updating them on any changes since their last certification.

How are you tested?

The course is tested by a theory examination and practical assessment.  Upon passing the certificate is valid for two years, with an ongoing option to extend during the life of re-certification.
